Life is Good, Post Stroke:
I Am Now Better Not Bitter

After having my stroke, I chose to become better, not bitter. I knew I had to have a good attitude and believe God had a better plan for me. The therapy I was receiving from the clinic and writing about experiences in and outside of the clinic for almost two years was the best therapy for me. I want you to vicariously walk with me and experience my miraculous journey until my last days prior to being discharged from The Centre of Neuro Skills. I want you to see my frailties, growth, and strength. Jesus can work inside of you for the greater good. Sometimes in life, we must decrease in order for Him to increase. Less in life can be more. I had a good marriage for 25 years pre-stroke. Post-stroke my marriage is even better. Not only did my perspective change but my life changed also. I came to understand who and what really matters the most. Since I had a stroke, I give thanks to God because now I am a better person.

Why Sammy Still Can't Read:
A Service Delivery Model for Creating
a Culture of Reading

Our nation’s children face many horrible things-hunger, broken homes, homelessness, poverty, crime, and illiteracy, are just a few. All of these problems can be prevented, but none more so than illiteracy caused by a lack of supportive education. Why Sammy Still Can’t Read reveals that many children, especially African-American children, remain illiterate simply because they have undiagnosed learning disabilities such as dyslexia and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Children like Sammy remain in the school system underserved by educators with their learnings issues overlooked or labeled as slow learners. Using their vast experience and educational background, authors Leroy and Yvette McClure have created a low-cost and easy-to-implement service model that any educational system can utilize to introduce any learning disabled (LD) child to the world of learning to read, then reading to learn. This book seeks to educate all children and ease the burden of illiteracy on society.
