Did you know that someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds? That’s 800,000 people experiencing a stroke each year. Unfortunately, 20% of them, around 160,000, don’t survive. As a stroke survivor, I’m not just grateful; I’m also an overcomer. It happened on July 30th while I was working out in the gym.
I found myself in the Neuro ICU for 21 days and underwent five hours of rehabilitation each day, five days a week, for over two years. My life changed drastically.

I found myself in the Neuro ICU for 21 days and underwent five hours of rehabilitation each day, five days a week, for over two years. My life changed drastically.
Now, as a stroke survivor, I’m thrilled to be alive and recognize a higher purpose in my life. I aim to share my blessings with other stroke survivors, helping them rediscover life after a stroke.
The rush to return to normalcy often overshadows the benefits of the recovery journey. We get fixated on quickly leaving rehab and returning home, sometimes forgetting to care for others along the way. In our weakness, God can strengthen other aspects of our lives if we slow down and savor life.
Before my stroke, I lived life in the fast lane without a second thought. Now, I’ve embraced a slower pace and find joy in it. This new normal allows me to spend more time with my family, especially my grandchildren, and to inspire others navigating life after a stroke. Sharing my journey with fellow survivors brings me profound joy and peace.

Let’s take a look at the steps of Overcoming adversity. Some people need to learn how to live life again after adversity. Some people need to learn how to get back into the game after adversity and some people need to know how to get their business back on track or in the black after adversity. The key is overcoming adversity. What is adversity? Synonyms for adversity are misfortune, tragedy, hardship bad luck, affliction or disaster. Again what is adversity?
Major disruption in your life or life style or the life of your business.
Health wise adversity could be a stroke, heart attack or death of a loved one. In life adversity could be divorce or loss of job or family conflict. In the business world adversity could be major revenue decline-massive layoffs or bankruptcy.
The ABC’s of overcoming adversity starts with A, your Attitude, how you respond to what happens to you.
10% of life is what happens to you but 90% of life is how you respond to what happened to you or your business.
One thing you have control of is your Attitude. If your attitude is positive as you approach your adversity, it will build you up instead of tear you down. If your attitude is such as it could have been a lot worse, you start seeing the glass of water as half full versus half empty. Remove all negativity that’s around you away from you and that includes people. Despite the adversity, you see how you can become better and not bitter.
Consider it pure joy my brother the various trials you may encounter, the testing of your faith produces endurance and endurance causes you to be more perfect, more mature and more complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-4
Do not let people rob you of your joy. You can have joy in the midst of a storm. It depends on your attitude.
